Public Urinals.
A new Jennings' Patent Urinal to accommodate three persons was
placed in Pied Bull Yard. This was in lieu of an old urinal that had
previously existed there, but which had been removed to enable a new
building to be erected adjoining the site thereof.
The urinal in Short's Gardens, adjoining the new Workhouse, has
been taken down, its site being included in the new building. It is
very desirable that a new urinal near to the site of the old one
should be erected as soon as possible.
The public urinals belonging to the Board are 18 in number, and
contain 46 compartments; 10 of the urinals, containing 35 compartments,
have water laid on to them, the others have not. The whole of
them are cleansed daily by the Board's workmen

Public Lighting.
One of Suggs' improved street lamps, giving a light equal to 80
candles, was fixed on the crossing refuge at the south, end of
Tottenham Court Road. This lamp was previously lighted by 3
burners, each consuming 5 cubic feet of gas per hour, and giving a
light equal to 48 candles.
The work of substituting the new improved circular lamps for the
old pattern square ones was proceeded with. The total number of lampposts
and lanterns of the new pattern now in the District is 247.
