Slaughter-Houses.—On the 29th October the Middlesex Magistrates,
at their Petty Sessions, held at the Freemasons' Tavern, Great
Queen Street, granted licences for slaughter-houses to the following
butchers, the works previously required by the Sanitary Committee
having been performed:—

Artizans and Labourers Dwellings Act, 1868 (Torrens).
During the year I reported on the unhealthy condition of the
premises Nos. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 31, 33,
35, 37, 39, 41, and 43, Shelton (formerly King) Street, Drury
Lane.
Artizans and Labourers Dwellings Improvement Act, 1875
(Cross).
Representation No. 1 (Great Wild Street area.)—The final
award of Sir Henry Hunt, C.B., in the matter of the above-named
Act and Scheme, has been deposited at the Home Office, Whitehall.
We may therefore hope that the demolition of the wretched property
in this neighbourhood will soon take place, and that new and suitable
dwellings for the working classes be erected on the site.
Representation No. 2 (Little Coram Street area.)—My report
to the Metropolitan Board of Works, relating to the above area, was
taken into consideration by the Board, and a resolution passed, to the
effect that the said area was unhealthy, and that an Improvement
Scheme ought to be made in respect thereof.
