Artisans and Labourers' Dwellings Act, 1868.

This Act, commonly known as Torrens' Act, was applied to the following houses:

No. 44, Charles Street, alterations ordered not effected—pulled
down to rebuild as warehouses.
Nos. 3 and 4, Neal's Yard, have since, with the consent of the
Board, been altered into warehouses.
Nos. 48 and 49, Charles Street, were ordered by your Board to be
demolished. The owner appealed to the magistrates at Quarter
Sessions, who refused to confirm the order.
A total of 46 properties were dealt with under the Act, 19 of which
were ordered to be altered and improved, and 27 to be demolished.
