in the Consumption Hospital, the per centage becomes 26.0. Both these
results arc favourable as compared with last year, viz.:—
Zymotic Class 16.0 Lung Diseases 26.5
And also with 1857 „ „ 15 05 „ „ 27.4
From all diseases of the lungs 436 deaths were registered.
In the 1st Quarter 108

Total 436
This shows an absolute increase of 16 over 1858, a decrease of 6 for
1857, and 13 for 1856.
Of the 1338 persons whose deaths were recorded, 493 were under 5
years of age, viz.:-

Between 1 and 2 105
,, 2 and 3 50
,, 3 and 4 26
,, 4 and 5 44
493
Or 36 8 per cent of the total deaths, a per centage of 5.2 less than 1858.

The Births registered amounted to 1989.

This gives a gain to the Parish of 784 over the number of deaths.
I have again introduced a table, showing the mortality of persons
according to the various occupations of the inhabitants.
