Tuberculosis.
The number of primary notifications of tuberculosis (200) was an increase of
44 on the previous years total. However, despite this, the number of active cases
on the register at the end of the year was only five more than at the end of the
previous year.
There were only 21 deaths in the Borough attributed to tuberculosis against 29
the previous year.
The local tuberculosis death rate continued to decrease, as did the percentage
of tuberculosis deaths against all other deaths registered in the Borough.
