BIRTHS.
During the year 2,379 births were registered in the
Borough ; 1,239 were males and 1,140 females. Corrected
by outward and inward transfers, these numbers become
2,269, 1,172 and 1,097 respectively. The corrected figures
for the registration districts are shewn in the following Table
No. 5.

The birth rate, calculated on the civilian population
was 16.1, compared with 15 9 in 1927.
