MILK SUPPLY.
Registration. On 31st December, 1927, there were on
the register 95 dairy premises, 23 of which were in Woolwich,
42 in Plumstead, and 30 in Eltham. The number of dairymen
or purveyors of milk on the register was 92, but 11 of these
carried on their business from registered premises outside
the Borough. The number of registered cowkeepers was 8,
all, with one exception, being in the parish of Eltham. The
changes which took place in the registers were in all instances
due to business reasons.
Cowkeepers. There are eight registered cowkeepers in
the Borough holding licences for 22 cowsheds in all, and
providing for 464 cows. The average number of cows kept
was 369. These cowsheds are subject to regular inspection
