DIPHTHERIA.
Notification. During the year 195 cases of diphtheria were
notified, compared with 152 in 1923. The case rate is shown
in Table No. 28. The number of notifications received each
quarter was as follows:-
First quarter, 44. Third quarter, 38.
Second quarter, 37. Fourth quarter, 76.
Deaths. The number of deaths from diphtheria was 9, all
of which were in children under five years of age.
Return Cases. The following Table shows the number of
return cases, the dates of notification and the date of discharge
from hospital of the primary cases.
