SUMMING AND SLIPPER BATHS.
Three Swimming Baths in the Borough are provided by the Council.
During the year the number of swims amounted to 183,753, comprising
58,706 adults and 125,047 children, an increase of 35 per cent over last
year .
The water is subjected to continuous chlorination and filtration,
and 19 samples were taken during the year for bacteriological analysis,
four of which were found to be unsatisfactory.
The number of Slipper Baths taken during the year at the four
Council establishments was 269,233, which included 6,812 attendances of
Old Age Pensioners and 129 unemployed persons, who were admitted free
of charge.
The total number of persons admitted to all sections of the Baths
Department,including the Laundry, during the year, was 497,224.
