Temporary Hutments.
381 owned by the Borough Council remained at the end
of the year. 24 were recommended for demolition because of
their structural condition.
Requisitioned Properties.
The number of dwellings under requisition by the Borough
Council at the end of the year was 2,019, involving 2,773
lettings , of which 6 were recommended to the Housing Manager
for de-requisitioning for various reasons, and 10 basement
flats, which did not comply with the Regulations, were
recommended for closure.
Slum Clearance.
A survey of "Black Spots" in the area was completed
during the year, and up to date 65 small areas have been
classified as black-spots. The resumption of slum clearance
is under consideration.

Applications for Rehousing.
At the end of the year, there were 3?649 applications
for rehousing on the Housing Managers register, including
168 tenants of Council dwellings and 447 licencees of
requisitioned premises .
