Cream and Preserved Cream
22 samples were submitted for analysis, of which 20 were sold as Preserved
Cream and 2 as Cream.
The 20 samples of Preserved Cream were satisfactory. Each contained
more than the legal minimum of 35 per cent. of fat and each was labelled
with a label stating the nature and amount of preservative present.
Analysis showed that in no case did the amount exceed the legal minimum
of 04 per cent.
In three cases, printing on the carton in which the sample was supplied,
described the contents as "Rich Cream" or "Thick Rich Cream" without
the word "Preserved" accompanying the expression in letters of equal
prominence. These samples were:—
M 62 Described as "Thick Rich Cream." Subsequent sample to M 56
which was bought as Cream since it had no declaratory label.
The Vendor was cautioned.
C 49 Described as "Thick Rich Cream" and the can containing the
Cream was not labelled in accordance with the regulations.
The vendor was cautioned.
C 50 Described as "Rich Cream." The vendor was cautioned.
