PUBLIC HEALTH PROPAGANDA.
Health Propaganda week was held from 8th to 12th May. This
consisted of a film show lasting about an hour, which was given four
times daily, and in addition a small Health Propaganda exhibition was
also held.
The films shown were "The Town Rat", the official film of the
Ministry of Agriculture, which illustrates the work of rodent
disinfestation, "Another Case of Poisoning", a food hygiene film
which is instructive to all food handlers, and a Diphtheria Trailer.
A short talk was given after each showing.
The exhibition consisted of stands loaned by the Central Council
for Health Education which illustrated "The Services of Local
Authorities", "Food and Drink Infections" and "Diphtheria Immunisation".
Short talks were given to children during the intervals of the
special Saturday morning performances at a local cinema, by the
Medical Officer of Health and several sanitary inspectors.
With the kind co-operation of the Food Executive Officer, health
propaganda leaflets were again distributed during the issue of new
ration books.
