When the Unit was established in its more permanent quarters at
20, Golden Lane, 1,583 firms in Shoreditch, including factories, warehouses,
cookshops, dairies, ice cream shops and public houses, were circulated
by this department and invited to send in numbers of employees wishing
to take advantage of this examination. Information was also passed to
residents in this Borough through the monthly "News Letter" issued by the
Public Libraries. As a result, arrangements were made for a further 2,000
persons to be X-rayed early in 1951.
