SOCIAL AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
Of the 256 new patients who attended the medical clinic, the husbands of 211
were employed, those of 42 were unemployed, and the husbands of the remaining 3
were in receipt of public assistance relief. In the case of the gynaecological clinic the
corresponding figures for husbands are:—Employed 187; unemployed, 45; on
relief, 16. These figures show a considerable degree of employment amongst the
husbands. Further information was available in respect of 185 of the women who
attended the gynaecological clinic. It was found that 24 of these were employed and
the remaining 161 did no work apart from their domestic duties.
The weights of 238 of the new patients who attended the medical clinic are available.
It is not possible to draw any deduction from this sample, but the figures are
inserted here for reference purposes:—
