The report concludes with a recommendation that propaganda should be
directed towards educating the public upon the importance of a pure milk
supply and upon the safeguard that lies in the purchase of milk officially
designated as Pasteurized.
There are two cowsheds in Shoreditch. Six samples from these were
examined for the presence of tubercle bacilli, but with negative results in
every case.
Undesignated M ilk.
The results of the bacteriological examination of thirty-two samples of ordinary milk are given in the following table:—
No. of Sample | Date when taken 1933 | No. of bacteria per c. cm. | Presence of coliform bacillus | Remarks |
---|---|---|---|---|
109 | 25th April | 38,500 | Absent in 1/10 c.c. | The wide variations between reports upon samples taken at the same time of year is an indication that there is room for great improvements in the production and distribution of milk. |
