The infantile mortality is the highest so far recorded for the dwellings as a
whole and also for the Class B dwellings.
In the subjoined table are given the deaths and death-rates from certain causes for the dwellings and the corresponding death-rates for the whole Borough, so that they may be compared:—

The deaths of residents of the dwellings in public institutions numbered 74,
being 43 for the Class A and 31 for the Class B dwellings. The percentage of the
total deaths of residents of the dwellings dying in public institutions was 45'8,
being 409 for Class A and 5P4 for Class B. The percentages for the Borough and
for the wards are contained in Table VI. (Appendix).
The cases of notifiable infectious disease numbered 67, of which 41 were in
the Class A dwellings and 26 in the Class B. The attack-rates per 1,000 population
were 7-9 for the whole of the dwellings, 6'1 for Class A, and 14'4 for Class B, as
compared with 7'9 'for the whole Borough. The cases included 1 of puerperal
fever, 27 of scarlet fever, 24 of diphtheria, 11 of erysipelas, 2 of enteric fever and
2 of cerebro-spinal fever.
