In connection with the above, it may be mentioned that six old brick drains were
removed, and in 45 instances nuisance and annoyance arising from the presence of
rats on premises, mainly through sewer or drain defects, were dealt with. In 101 instances
water was restored to premises, the supplies having been cut off for various
reasons, and on 155 premises leaking water-pipes were repaired. Two new urinals were
constricted, and 30 were cleansed and repaired. Foul accumulations on 109 premises
