POPULATION
The Registrar General's estimate of the total population of the
Borough, mid-year, 1956, was 65,100. which is an increase of 320
over the figure for the previous year. This figure gives a density of
ten persons to the acre.
The natural increase of population, measured by excess of
births over deaths, was 37.
The small fluctuation in the total population noted in recent
years was maintained and there seems no reason to anticipate any
dramatic change in this tendency.
