Although unemployment has remained so low throughout the
year, this office has placed 3,143 men and women in the twelve
months ending 17th November as compared with 3,300 during the
twelve months ending 18th November, 1953. The majority of
these people have been placed on the first day of attendance at the
office and consequently would rarely be included in the number of
persons registered as unemployed."

for they provide rest and relaxation for the older members of the
population and facilities for recreational activities for the younger
generation, thus making a notable contribution to the general well
being of the community.
