Deaths.
There was a substantial decrease in the death rate of
1923 in comparison with thait of 1922. In the latter year
the rate was 11.8; last year it was 10.5.
The decrease of mortality applies to the country in
general.
In Bromley, during the last 30 years, the mean death
rate was 10.9, so that, although last year's rate was better
than that of its predecessor, there is no evidence that the
rate is a dominating quantity, as during the 30 years' period
under review several years have provided a lower death
rate than that of 1923.

The rates ot these attections tor the previous ten years show the extent of incidence.

Now the significance of these figures is that the affections
which appear in the above table account for nearly
one-half of the deaths which occurred.
It will be seen that there is a reduction this vear in the
death rate from Cancer and Respiratory Disease, and an
increase in the mortality from Heart Pisease.
