Last year the case fatality per cent, of cases was 9.5.
In the years immediately prior to the introduction of antitoxin,
of every 100 persons attacked in Bromley, 30 to 40
died.
1 think convincing commentary on the efficiency of
antitoxin as a remedial measure is written in the figureis,
although I am not without belief that there is some relationship
between the diminished fatality of scarlet fever and
diphtheria, and that the latter diminution may be a natural
process and irrespective in some degree of antitoxin administration.
A memorandum of the Ministry of Health, dated July,
1922, emphasises the necessity of the early administration of
antitoxin, and deprecates the praotice of awaiting bacteriological
examination before administration.
Puerperal Fever.— The figures are more satisfactory
than those of last year. There were 2 cases and 1 dearth.

The following table shows cases and deaths in the last ten years:—
