POPULATION
The mid-year estimate of the population supplied by the
Registrar General is 49,500, a decrease of 600 from that of the
previous year,
BKRTHS
The number of live births registered during the year was
655, which gives a crude birth rate of 13.2 per 1,000 of population
the corrected birth rate being the same figure- The rate
for 1956 was 11.5. There were 11 still-births, giving a stillbirth
rate of 16.79 per 1,000 births In 1956 the still-birth
rate was 36.33.
