(e) Food and Drugs Act, 1955
As I mentioned earlier in this Report, the Food and Drugs
Act 1955 came into operation on 1st January 1956 This Act is
a consolidating measure It repeals the Food and Drugs Amendment
Act, 1954 and consolidates it together with the Food and
Drugs Act 1938,the Food and Drugs(Milk, Dairies and Artificial
Cream) Act 1950 and certain other enactments amending and supplementing
Part V of the 1938 Act.
The Minister of Agriculture Fisheries and Food has used
his powers to make Regulations under this Act. These are more
sweeping than anything we have had before In consequence more
work has divulged on the Public Health Department especially
on the Sanitary Inspectors whose duty it is to ensure that these
Regulations together with the parent Act are fully complied
with. In the latter part of last year the preparatory work was
already well under way, in readiness for the coming into operation
of this Act.
Middlesex County Council Act, 1950. Section IIRegistration
of Hawkers of Food.
Sixty-three hawkers of food in the Borough are registered.
