number examined at all ages was 2,052, 1,206 male and 846 female.
79 of these were recalled for large film examination, 6 of whom did
not keep the appointment. Of the 73 re-examined 41 were reported
as perfectly well, and 32 referred for further investigation.
SCABIES.
All cases of scabies requiring treatment during 1948 were sent
to the Hornsey Cleansing Station, by arrangement with the Hornsey
Borough Council, and a total of 51 cases were so dealt with. Of these,
5 were under school age, 27 were school children, and 19 were adults.
The number dealt with in the previous year was 57.

BACTERIOLOGICAL WORK.

All the bacteriological work required for the Borough was carried out at the Central Public Health Laboratory, Colindale. The specimens examined during the year were as follows:—

DISINFECTION AND DISINFESTATION.
The number of articles dealt with at the Disinfecting Station
was as follows:—

Articles destroyed 73
123 rooms were disinfected on account of infectious disease,
and 118 disinfested on account of the presence of vermin.
