SCABIES.
Scabies continued to be prevalent in the Borough throughout
the year, the incidence remaining practically unchanged from the
previous year. Treatment was provided at the First Aid Post in
White Hart Lane School for 277 cases. Of these 112 were adults,
116 children of school age, and 49 children under school age. The
preparation used was Benzyl Benzoate Emulsion, and the results
have been very satisfactory.
So far as the general cleanliness of the community is concerned
there is no evidence of any general deterioration in this respect.
During the summer months large numbers of children of all ages
were examined in connection with evacuation, and the number found
to show any sign of lice infestation was very small indeed. Any
children so found were promptly dealt with, and the Health Visitors
and School Nurses keep a very close watch as a routine on the clean
liness of all children coming under their care. The standard of
cleanliness in Wood Green children is, I am glad to say, very high
indeed.
