SCABIES.
An account of the measures taken to deal with the greatly
increased prevalence of scabies is given on page 5 of my Annual
Report as School Medical Officer for 1942, to which reference may
be made.
BACTERIOLOGICAL WORK.

The bacteriological examination of specimens from the Borough is carried out at the Joint Isolation Hospital, and during the year the following examinations were made:—

DISINFECTION AND DISINFESTATION.
The number of articles dealt with at the Disinfecting Station
was as follows :—
Articles disinfected 2,485*
Articles destroyed 63
160 rooms were disinfected on account of infectious disease,
and 86 rooms disinfested on account of the presence of vermin.
*This figure includes 1,448 articles disinfected for Scabies.
