IV.—-FINDINGS OF MEDICAL INSPECTION AND ARRANGEMENTS
FOR TREATMENT.
Full details of the medical inspections, the defects found and
the number for which treatment was provided are shown in the
statistical tables at the end of t'his report. Table IV gives details
of the treatment provided. The arrangements made for providing
treatment have remained unchanged from previous years, and it is
not necessary to describe them again. At the end of the ordinary
statistical tables are three tables, A, B and C, which give details of
the work carried out by Dr. Clarke at the Ear Clinic.
V.—INFECTIOUS DISEASES.

1938, and 519 in 1937. The following table gives the numbers of cases of different infections notified from the schools in 1939, 1938 and 1937.

The incidence of scarlet fever and diphtheria during 1939 is
shown in the following table. It will be seen that only 35 cases of
scarlet fever and only six cases of diphtheria occurred among
children attending the elementary schools. These figures compare
very favourably with those for the previous year, which were
respectively 56 and 32.
