Drainage and Sewerage.
All premises in the borough are connected up to the Council's
sewers. There is a dual system of drainage, the soil drains being
connected to the main sewers which carry the sewage to a pumping
station situated in Tottenham. Here the sewage is pumped into
the London County Council's sewers by arrangement with that
Council. The pumping station and main sewer in Lordship Lane
are under the control of a Joint Drainage Committee consisting of
representatives from Tottenham and Wood Green.
The surplus water drains discharge into the Council's surfacewater
sewers through which the surface-water flows into the Moselle
and Muswell Brooks, and by these is carried finally into the River
Lee.
During the past year the Council has agreed to participate in
the East Middlesex Sewerage Scheme which is being promoted by
the Middlesex County Council, and when it comes into operation
will deal with the sewage disposal of a large area comprising Wood
Green and neighbouring districts in East Middlesex as well as
certain adjacent districts in the counties of Hertford and Essex.
BATHS.
The open-air Swimming Pool in Durnsford Road was open
throughout the summer months but the attendances showed a
marked falling off compared with previous years, the result of the
persistence of cold, wet weather during a great part of the summer.

The attendances at the Swimming Pool at the Western Road Baths and at the open-air bath on the racecourse at Alexandra Pari for the last three years are shown below :—
