2. Smallpox.
The Middlesex County Council is responsible for the provision
of isolation accommodation for cases of smallpox occurring in this
Borough. The accommodation is provided by arrangement between
the Middlesex and London County Councils at one of the London
County Council Smallpox Hospitals.
3. Tuberculosis.
Provision for the treatment of tuberculosis is made by the Middlesex County Council, and I am indebted to Dr. Tate, the County Medical Officer, for the following information showing the accommodation available at the different institutions during 1938.

In addition to the above, 24 beds are reserved in the Royal
Chest Hospital, City Road, for male or female patients as required.
Use is also made of many other institutions suitable for
different types of tubercular patients to which cases are sent as
occasion arises.
4. Maternity.
Arrangements have been made with three maternity hospitals,
namely, the Mothers' Hospital, Clapton, the Royal Northern Hos-
