The experiment first tried by the Education Committee in 1912
and referred to in my Report last year has proved, as I surmised,
an unqualified success; no less than 15,105 attendances were made
by school children during the year.
No less than 86,310 attendances were made by the general
public.
I am pleased to learn that the Baths Committee have under
consideration an addition to the existing building in Western Road
for Slipper Baths and an additional Pond.
The pressure upon the acommodation at Western Road during
the months of May, June and July has been phenominal.
The attendance at Western Road works out at about 1,508 per
week, against 950 in 1912 (not including School children.)
I am sure the above figures must be more than gratifying to
the Members of the Council, not merely from the financial point
of view, but as tending towards healthy exercise and the teaching
