Appendix to Table III
Tuberculosis Cases Dying within One Year of Notification or who were Notified after Death
J.M.; 1 year 10 months male.
Notified 16.5.53; died 10.8.53.
Admitted to Neasden Hospital with complications of measles and was later found to have miliary
tuberculosis from which he died. The grounds of infection in this case were found to be a lodger (Irish)
in the house. This man was hospitalised and sent to a sanatorium following his discovery.
M.H. 25 years female.
Died unnotified on 13.7.53.
Cause of death—tuberculous broncho-pneumonia and renal failure due to maldevelopment of kidneys.
Admitted Paddington Hospital on 22.6.53.
H.F.H. 38 years male.
Died unnotified on 25.1.53.
Admitted to Central Middlesex Hospital in January, 1953, with a history of approximately a year's
duration of cough, lassitude, loss of weight, but he had been quite unwilling to see a doctor until shortly
before admission. On examination grossly cachectic and toxic with advanced pulmonary tuberculosis.
F.T.H.; 52 years; male.
Died unnotified.
Illness commenced 1.5.53.
Admitted to Central Middlesex Hospital 1.6.53. Died same day.
Cause of death—tuberculous broncho-pneumonia. t
W.B.; 59 years; male.
Died unnotified on 27.1.53.
Investigated at Chest Clinic in August, 1952. No evidence of tuberculosis found at that time.
Admitted to Central Middlesex Hospital in January, 1953, with broncho-pneumonia from which he died. At
post-mortem some evidence of chronic pulmonary tubercle was found.
