†Standard quantities are calculated upon the respective mean quantities of refuse collected per house (5.0 cubic
yards during the quinquennium 1900-4 and 3.7 cubic yards during the eleven years 1905-15). They represent the theoretical
number of cubic yards of refuse removed per annum on the assumption that the mean quantity per house had remained
constant for all houses during the respective periods. The quantity in the respective periods rises steadily and proportionately
to the number of new houses added to the district. *Midsummer.
