Council has established a Dispensary in Willesden at 3,
Priory Park Road, at which their Tuberculosis Officer, Dr.
D. G. M. Munro, attends for two hours, twice weekly, to see
old cases and for one hour twice weekly to see new cases.
and at other times by appointment. Patients are also visited
by Dr. Munro or by a nurse, at home, when necessary.
Dr. Munro is responsible for the treatment of Tuberculosis
in the whole of County District No. 3, including
Harrow, Kingsbury, Ruislip-Northwood, Wealdstone, Wembley,
Willesden and Hendon (Rural) Districts, comprising
not only the densely populated area of Willesden but also
a scattered outlying area with, in many cases, no convenient
means of transit from one part to the other.
Suitable cases, insured and non-insured, are sent to
various approved sanatoria.
An agreement has now been concluded between the
Willesden Council and the Middlesex County Council, by
which the former undertake to admit a certain number of
cases of Tuberculosis, on and after 1st February, 1915, to
their Isolation Hospital for purposes of isolation, in return
for which the County Council will make payments to the
Willesden Council.
E.—INVESTIGATION OF OTHER DISEASES.
Prevalence of Certain Diseases.— There are no
means at present of gauging the prevalence of disease,
other than notifiable disease, except by the death rates,
and even this method is not reliable, as the fatality rates
vary in different diseases, and again, in the same disease
from time to time. It is to be hoped, however, that when
the National Insurance Act statistics come to be published,
some clearer light will be thrown on the incidence of the
various diseases on the insured and general populations.
The following Table, No. 45, shows the number of
deaths during the past 11 years from the diseases specified:—
