Three small Wards of one bed each (now used by
Caretaker).
Proposal No. 1.—The existing accommodation provides
a nucleus of 23 beds, and this number would suffice at the
beginning of an outbreak of Small Pox, and could be added
to as and when necessary during the course of an epidemic
by the erection of suitable huts of a temporary character. It
this course were adopted it would be necessary to erect an
administrative block capable of housing the staff for twentythree
patients, and providing for the requirements of fortyseven
patients and staff. The excess staff when the number
of patients should exceed twenty-three would similarly have
to be housed by the erection of suitable huts of a temporary
character.
Proposal No. 2.—On the other hand, the Committee
may desire to provide for all possible emergencies by completing
a hospital for forty-seven patients now.
