Ringworm Cases.—The Clinic has been open for the
treatment of Ringworm cases during the whole of the year
under review.
513 cases of Ringworm came under observation during
the year, and it will be noted from the Table, No. 80, that 464
received treatment during the year, that no report was available
in respect of 24 cases, and that 25 were not
known to have received treatment. In 35 of the 464 cases
put down as receiving treatment, no treatment was necessary;
and of the remaining 429 cases, 205 were cured at
the Ringworm Clinic and 113 were still under treatment
there at the end of the year. The remaining 111 cases were
cured by other agencies. These 111 cases actually came
under treatment at the Ringworm Clinic during the year,
but the majority of them left on account of the long time
which elapses before it is possible to apply X-Rays. There
would be considerable advantage if provision could be made
as suggested in Appendix E to prevent this delay, as the
long time—several months sometimes—before the child's
turn comes prolongs the opportunities for the spread of the
disease. In no case treated by X-Rays has there been permanent
baldness or other ill-effects from the treatment.
