Average Number of Occupants Per Room.—The
following; Table No. 14 shews this figure in relation to the
size of the tenement or house.

The above Table, No 14, is really a better index of the
density of a population than the figures per acre; the
density per room being of much more vital importance than
the density per acre. Then, again, the question of the
separation of the sexes has to be considered. If the
children of the household are of tender years the question
may not arise, but as they grow up the question may become
acute. From these points of view the room density figure
of Willesden as compared with that of the three comparative
areas above is not altogether satisfactory.
