By separating the diseases up into the various
classes, it appears that Scarlet Fever patients
remained under treatment an average stay of 45.5
days, Diphtheria patients 29 3 days, Enteric Fever
50.2 days, and Other Diseases 23.8 days.
In connection with the accommodation provided
in this hospital (164 beds), it is to be reported
that it proved amply sufficient. It is to be borne
in mind, however, that although there was an
increase in the numbers of cases admitted last year,
and that the accommodation proved equal to the
demand put upon it, yet the total admissions did
not equal that of 1908 (854), in which year the
accommodation proved to be insufficient. Added
to that, it is to be remembered that in the year
mentioned, Kingsbury Hospital (32 beds). since
burned down, was then available for patients.
