The mean annual death-rate from cancer for the last 7 years is
791 per million; for the septennium immediately preceding, it was 501
per million.
This material increase in the number of deaths from cancer corresponds
to an increase which has been observable throughout the country,
and the only satisfactory feature in the local rate is that it has during
the last two years fallen below the septennial mean.
