To The Public Health Committee.
Gentlemen,
The following table shows the number of patients treated
in this hospital during the quarter ending the 31st of March.
It is my intention in the future to submit to you a similar
table at the end of each quarter, rather than at irregular
intervals as has hitherto been my custom. In this way, no
doubt, the value of the figures will be enhanced, especially
for purposes of comparison, as they will be submitted along
with Dr. Butler's quarterly returns.
It will be seen that 214 patients were admitted during
the quarter ; for the corresponding period of last year the
number admitted amounted to 196.

The daily average number of patients in hospital was 104.
The cost of maintenance of patients for the quarter was
4s. 4¾d., and for staff was 7s. 4d
