This represents a minimum monetary value of £279,363.
So large a public credit would justify a substantial
expenditure in the effort to achieve a result so gratifying, and
I do not doubt that in criticising the expenditure of the Public
Health Department, the credit side of the balance sheet will be
remembered as a set-off to the actual contributions from the
rates to the maintenance of the efficiency of the department.
