large proportion of cases necessarily involve contracting the disease.
This is a very significant and somewhat surprising result of the investigations.
Measles and whooping cough are certainly very highly infectious
diseases, hut more than half the children definitely and persistently
exposed to infection, even when unprotected by a previous attack, fail
to contract these maladies. These results are borne out it will be
observed when the observations of 1907, exclusively, are considered.
