Antitoxin treatment was withheld only in those
cases suffering from the mildest attacks, which
amounted to 36 in number.
It is worthy of note that the skin eruption and
joint pains which, in previous years, somewhat frequently
followed the injection, now rarely make an
appearance. Out of the 190 cases treated with antitoxin,
only 16 developed eruptions and 8 joint
affection.
SCARLET FEVER.
During the year 573 cases were treated ; this is a
very much larger number than in 1905, when there
were 357 cases. In spite of the increased numbers,
there was no rise in the mortality rate.
