tion of the London and Provincial Laundry, Kilburn
Lane, Stonebridge Laundry, Barry Road, and the
Steam Laundry, Dyne Road, they are not on a large
scale, the largest employing not more than twenty
hands for five days in the week.
There were 162 inspections, and notices were
given in some of them to cleanse and whitewash,
amend drains, and provide additional w.c. accommodation.
Other Workshops were also inspected as follows:—dressmakers,
30: tailors, 10: boot-makers,
3; coach and carriage makers, 4; dentists, 2; upholsterers,
3; smiths and tinmen, 6: bakehouses, 49.
Most of these were of small dimensions, some employing
only two or three hands, just bringing them
within the scope of the Statute. Notices were
served in some instances to amend conditions.
Some of the businesses in the manufacture of
wearing apparel, employ out-workers. Forms were
left with the proprietors of those businesses for the
entry of the names and addresses of the out-workers
employed. These were duly copied and entered into
Register.
The Bakehouses were all required to cleanse
and whitewash in accordance with the Regulations
of the Council.
