NOTIFICATIONS.
These are required under a Local Act of 1887,
which came into operation in October of that year.
Owing to the presence of scarlet fever and
diphtheria in considerable epidemic form the number
of notifications have been more this year than
last, though not so many as in 1893. There have
been altogether 741 received, giving an average of
9.3 per 1,000 of the population. Last year the average
was 7.5.
The amount paid during the year to Medical
Men for Notification Certificates was £84 15s. 0d.,
and the cost of disinfecting rooms after infectious
diseases was £130 16s. 6d.
