It can, I think, be stated that we will hand over to the County
Council three well-equipped nurseries, whose staffs are enthusiastic
and efficient in the performance of their duties. It will be interesting
to watch the future of these nurseries. I am of opinion that their
disappearance, in part or in whole, will coincide with a return to
conditions which allow of a re-establishment of normal family life.
In spite of the excellent work carried out in day nurseries throughout
the country I am also of opinion that the sooner this comes about
the better will it be for the nation as a whole.

The following table supplies details of attendances at each of the Nurseries during 1947 :—
