POPULATION.
The Registrar-General estimated the civilian population of the
Borough at the middle of 1947 to be 74,320, an increase of 2,610 as
compared with 1946.
BIRTHS—BIRTH RATE.
The nett total of births accredited to the district was 1,246, an
increase of 33 on the preceding year. Of these, 633 were males and
613 females (21 males and 10 females being illegitimate).
The birth-rate for the year was 16.76 per 1,000 of the population.
