"From the above tables, it will be seen that more than 50 per
cent. of the overcrowding is in respect of ½ an adult or 1 adult,
which is, of course, satisfactory, in that the existing overcrowding
is minimal. It will also be seen that in no case is more than 1 additional
room required to abate the overcrowding, while in approximately
50 per cent. of the cases (18 out of 38), all that is required is
the same number of rooms of adequate size.
"Finally, and of most importance from the point of view of
future action, it will be seen that, in the great majority of cases,
houses containing 4 and 5 rooms which can be used as sleeping
apartments, are required. It can, of course, presumably be
assumed that still further improvement of existing conditions will
be obtained by a re-distribution of the families concerned within
the properties at present available, but this information, i.e. the
ultimate accommodation required, will 'necessarily influence the
Council's final scheme.
