Sanitary Circumstances of the Area.
Water.—The circumstances as to the water supply of the district
are as set out in the report for 1934, and remain satisfactory.

Swimming Bath.—The figures of the attendances at the Barrowell Green Open-Air Swimming Bath for the last two years were as follows:—

1934.1935.
Mixed Bathers, Adults39,67839,870
Mixed Bathers, Children35,00839,369
Season Ticket Holders
(attendances)29,94618,202
Totals104,63297,441
Spectators, Adults4,0123,425
Spectators, Children1,7361,308

A sample of the water in the swimming bath was sent for
chemical and bacteriological analysis during 1935. An eminently
satisfactory report was received, the report concluding with the
following words: "No exception can be taken to the use of this
water for swimming bath purposes. Bacteriologically it is comparable
to a potable water."
Broomfield Park Swimming Lake.—This lake continues to
be used for swimming purposes, the supply of water from the
artesian well being satisfactory in quality and in quantity.
Rivers and Streams.—The condition with regard to the
East Barnet Sewage Farm and Refuse Dump shows no material
alteration. We still await the happy day when the reconstruction
scheme will be completed, and the nuisance, which has so long
troubled the district, become largely a spectre of the past.
Drainage and Sewerage.—The arrangements for drainage,
sewerage, and sewage disposal remain materially as set out in the
Report for 1930.
Since 1930, 11 miles of additional sewage sewers and 11 miles
of surface-water sewers have been constructed within the district.
