The average rate for the 10 years 1896 to 1905 was 1.3.
This increased rate was due to the large number of deaths
from Diarrhoea and Typhoid Fever as compared with previous
years. If the number of deaths from these two causes had
not been above the average number of recent years, the rate
would have been well below the average for the previous year.
The Zymotic death-rate for North Southgate was 1.4,
whilst that for South Southgate was 2.0.
The Zymotic death-rate in England and Wales was 1.73.
The Public Mortuary.—During the year 12 bodies
were deposited in the Mortuary, as against 17 in the preceding
year and 9 in 1904.
