Disposal of House Refuse.
This matter has caused some difficulty during the year.
Complaints were received in respect of the House Refuse Shoot
at Crescent Farm, Sideup, at which it had been shot for many
years. As a result of this the Shoot was discontinued, but it
was only with some difficulty that we found two other but not
so convenient shoots. After a short use of these shoots
complaints again compelled the Owners to exclude us from
depositing there.
The Shoot next used, and which is still in our use, is at
Foots Cray. It has also been the subject of complaints, and
it is estimated to last for only six months, when it will again
become imperative for the Council to consider the question of
disposal of collected house refuse.
Town Planning.
During the year the Council decided to proceed with a
Town Planning Scheme for the whole of the Urban District,
and although this matter is not one of sanitary administration
it has many relative aspects, especially in regard to its
accompanying sanitary provisions.
